4. Is Crossroads Community Church a Spirit-filled church?
As expressed in our Statement of Faith, we believe the Holy Spirit permanently indwells every believer from the moment of salvation. Being filled with the Spirit is another matter, and is totally dependant upon the believer’s willingness to yield control of their lives to the Holy Spirit. The Bible tell us the Holy Spirit can be grieved (Ephesians 4:30) and His activity within us can be quenched (1 Thess 5:19). Either of these actions hinders the Holy Spirits influence on our thoughts, actions and behavior. Being filled by the Spirit should be the ultimate, ongoing goal of every believer. This is not accomplished by simply praying for the filling of the Spirit, but by living our lives in obedience to God’s commands.
From the time it was no more than a vision, the Holy Spirit has been and continues to be in the midst of all we do. As we gather on Sunday mornings and experience God through praise, worship and hearing His message, the Holy Spirit is at work. As we have sought to live in obedience to Him through the week, we gather then as Spirit-filled believers to praise and worship Him corporately. People regularly comment on the fact that they feel the Holy Spirit’s presence and movement during services.
A Spirit-filled believer is one who is manifesting the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) in his/her life. We believe the same holds true for the Spirit-filled church. So, with these things in mind, the short and simple answer is, “Yes, Crossroads is Spirit-filled.”
The leadership at Crossroads knows very clearly what we have and have not been called to do. We have been called to develop and provide environments where those who have never been in church or maybe have not been in a long time can come, explore God, come to know Him through His Son Jesus, and develop into mature, Christ following disciples. The environments are designed so our regular attendees can feel comfortable bringing their unchurched friends with them, without fear of something taking place that may be a hindrance to their friends returning or desiring to pursue a relationship with God. back to top
5. What will be the best way for me to plug in at Crossroads Community Church?
One of the best ways is to attend one of our "Crossroads Q & A's." Attending this meeting will allow you to catch the vision of Crossroads and see what God is doing here. Once you have caught that vision, you can serve on one of our minsitry teams or serve in one of our environments. Both of these offer you the opportunity to connect with other people. back to top
6. What are ministry teams?
Ministry teams are people gathered together to accomplish a task. However, our goal isn't just to get the job done. Our goal is to build relationships through shared ministry. Please check out our Strategic Service section for more information about serving on one of our ministry teams. back to top
7. Will there be Sunday School?
Crossroads will offer Waumba Land (Birth-4yr) and UpStreet (K-5) during the 9 & 11 am services only. With our emphasis on our environments, we feel the best way for adults to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ is through our community groups. These groups meet in homes and are a safe, predictable environment where no one will fall through the cracks. True accountability can be reached with a constant group of people in each community group. People can benefit from the fellowship and accountability of a small group while still serving on Sunday mornings. back to top
8. What is Waumba Land?
Waumba Land is Crossroads environment for preschool children birth through pre-kindergarten. "Waumba" is the Swahili word for Creator, so Waumba Land is the "Land of the Creator." We want children to walk away from Waumba Land knowing three things: God made me; God loves me; and Jesus wants to be my friend forever. This is accomplished by creating a comfortable place where children have a consistent leader and experience a caring God. Waumba Land is only available during the 9 & 11 am services. back to top
9. What is UpStreet?
On Sunday mornings, elementary-school aged children have their small-group meeting in UpStreet. They are divided by grades for Bible stories, instructional praise and group discussion. This is where they meet friends, talk about God and participate in a time of meaningful worship. UpStreet is only available during the 9 & 11 am services. back to top
10. What will your weekend services be like?
