What will the money be used for?
80% of the money raised will be used to fund the local ministry needs of Crossroads Church with the expansion into the new space. The additional 20% will be used to fund missions (10% to local missions, 10% to global missions.)
Why spend a lot of money renovating property that does not belong to Crossroads?
Realistically, it is currently more cost efficient to the near term (5-10 year) strategy and vision of Crossroads to do it this way. If we were to purchase land and build our own structure, it is doubtful we could also furnish it and equip it with the quality of materials and equipment we enjoy in the existing facility (sound, lighting, technical, etc.) Leasing space allows Crossroads to put the bulk of our resources directly into areas that affect ministry and missions rather than spending them on land and buildings. This may go against the grain of conventional wisdom, but there is little about Crossroads that can accurately be described as conventional.
Do I have to sign a commitment card?
No, not if you prefer not to. The purpose of the commitment card is simply to allow the leadership to have some idea as to how much Crossroads will have to work with, so we can begin to plan, budget, strategize and make commitments as a church to the mission projects we will support.

There is also something about making a written commitment that tends to etch the commitment into our daily lives so that, as individuals, we budget, plan and spend in such a way as to include that commitment into our everyday lives. A commitment should be made only after, as a family, you seek God’s guidance in your decision.
What if I make a commitment, and due to some unforeseen circumstance I find I cannot keep the commitment or must reduce the amount I have committed?
Unforeseen circumstances can and do arise. That is understandable. If this happens, no one will fault you for not being able to follow through with your commitment. This is also another reason it is critical to seek God’s guidance in your decision. Once a commitment is made based on God’s leading and guidance, rest assured nothing is going to happen that will catch God off guard!
The area of finances is a private and personal matter. Who will know what my family has committed to?
This information will be known only to the campaign team (probably no more than 3 people) – those charged with overseeing the campaign and reporting to the leadership what resources have been committed and are available. Rest assured, those in such a position will be of the highest caliber of integrity and honesty. The privacy of your financial matters will be given the highest priority and the greatest respect.
Most capital campaigns I have been familiar with have been 3-5 year campaigns. Why is this one just one year?
For most people, we believe it will be easier to plan, budget and make a commitment for 1 year than for 3-5 years. A one-year campaign allows us, both individually and corporately, to be intensely focused on the matter before us. Also, quite frankly, people tire of ALWAYS having some kind of fund raising campaign going on.
I’m still not comfortable with the idea of writing down my commitment. Can I still participate?
Of course! If you so choose, you can meet with one or more of the campaign team and let them know of your commitment. Again, this is simply so that the amounts committed can be included in the planning and budgeting stages of the campaign. And of course, if you are more comfortable not making an actual commitment but wish to give to the campaign, simply put the amount you wish to give in the offering bucket as it comes by during that portion of the service. If it is a check, make a note on the check it is to go toward the capital campaign. If the donation is in cash, place it in an envelope and notate on the outside what it is for.
I have stocks, bonds, or a car or other material possessions I would like to donate. Can I do that?
Certainly, just ask to meet with one or more of the campaign team and they will discuss with you the best way to handle such a transaction.
If I give a gift in some form other than check or cash, like stocks or a vehicle, is it still tax deductible?
Yes, once again just get with someone on the campaign team to determine the best way to handle the transaction to ensure you are given credit for your tax deductible gift.
What about people who partner with Crossroads after the campaign is launched – will they have a chance to participate?
Absolutely! As we progress through the campaign, there will be constant reports and updates as to how we are doing. So, at any given time, new attendees will soon become aware of the campaign. If they wish to participate, they need only turn in a commitment card for the time left in the campaign. Also, if during the campaign you decide you can and want to increase your commitment, simply turn in a new card for the remainder for the campaign.
I thought Crossroads was different than other churches and ministries, but now here you are asking me to give money. What gives?
Crossroads is different in many ways. At least one thing we do have in common with other churches though is the fact that we cannot spread the gospel and fulfill our mission, vision and strategy without the financial resources to do so. Before the first service was held at Crossroads, people who knew of the mission, vision and strategy gave of their time, their abilities and their financial resources to see to it Crossroads could do what God called us to do from the moment we opened the doors to the public. Everything you experience every Sunday was there before the first attendee walked through the front doors because people gave to make it happen. Some who gave and continue to give will never be Crossroads partners or even regular attendees. Some who gave have never even attended a service. They gave because they believe in what God is doing here. We can only continue to operate and to reach people for Christ if people continue to give.
As I look around the facility, everything appears to be pretty well finished. What other renovations are there to be done?
Another thing you will notice on Sunday upon looking around is that our space in Waumba Land and UpStreet is already just about filled to overflowing with children, birth through 5th grade. What a blessing! Also, Extreme, our environment for 6th – 8th graders, now meets sitting in the floor at the UpStreet check-in area, because they too have already outgrown their rooms – another blessing!

As you enter the glass double doors into the lobby of the church, you will notice a set of wooden double doors on the wall to your right before you reach the information desk. Through those doors is about 5,000 square feet of space that we have an option (and a need) to lease and renovate. This expansion will allow us the much needed space to accommodate our growing Children’s ministry environments. Part of that space will be used to incorporate KidStuf into our ministry. KidStuf is a dynamic, upbeat, virtue driven worship/learning environment for kids, K-5th grade. KidStuf takes place after the UpStreet hour and is attended by kids AND their parents. KidStuf is not a “drop your child off” environment. Rather, it is an environment kids bring their parents to so THEY can learn!
It is great that we have seen such growth in the children’s area, but I am in college. Are there plans for anything specifically directed at my age group.
Yes, absolutely! The only thing holding back the launch of this environment is people to staff it and resources to fund it. We believe it is critical to offer something for college age young adults. Studies report that about one third of teenagers in high school acknowledge attending church on a regular basis. Alarmingly, after graduation from high school, only about one third of those will continue to attend with any regularity. We believe it is critical to provide environments for this age group that are exciting, appealing, relevant and applicable to their lives. Again, it boils down simply to people and resources.
